Why we should meditate/exercise every day

There are many benefits to daily meditation that are the same as exercise. Meditation relaxes the body through stillness and deep breathing. Exercise, specifically stretching, helps to relax the body by releasing tension.But there are many benefits from meditation that cannot be arrived through exercise alone.Just as you need food and exercise to keep you healthy you need meditation to keep your mind healthy.

There are many benefits of regular daily meditation for one hour early in the morning.

  1. It releases accumulated thoughts from one’s mind and heart and makes one free from tension, strain and restlessness.
  2. It cleans the mind of negative and malicious tendencies.
  3. It regulates and disciplines the mind which is otherwise behaves like a drunken.
  4. It improves sensitivity and alertness.
  5. It removes problematic human tendencies like anger, rashness, hatred, short temper, impatience, intolerance, sensuous desires, etc.
  6. It develops your sense of discrimination and thus your ability to make right choices.
  7. Meditation leads to broadmindedness and compassion of heart.
  8. It ultimately leads to salvation and liberation.

To get rid of all mental illness, maximize inner-happiness and to end all human made suffering are my main ones, there is the increased chance of life after death but it is not a major concern once you have no anxiety.
