The coronavirus pandemic has put the world on a lockdown. In India too, one of the strictest lockdowns in the world has been implemented. Many state governments have also recommended to extend the lockdown beyond May 03, 2020 till as long as June. While in some areas marked “green zones”, small shops and businesses have been given permission to restart operations, large gatherings are strictly prohibited across the country.
Consider this: cases are still increasing, and considering the population proximity in India, there will be an exponential increase in cases from just one carrier, in case the lockdown ends.
It is unlikely that the government will lift the lockdown completely so that a gathering of more than 1000 people can take place.
Some people have gotten creative and had digital weddings. If that’s unappealing,it may be better to postpone the wedding and wait for things to become normal.
If you are looking to have a big wedding with a lot of guests, then there is no option but to postpone. But, if you are up for a small intimate wedding there is a way.
In fact, there have been so many marriages that have already been solemnized during this period. Some were done with a lot of protection following the “social distancing” requirements, while some of them were done breaking all the rules or requests.
Now the point is, if you are looking at a marriage only as a huge gathering with hundreds and thousands of guests and a lot of drama that is common in Indian weddings, then you will probably be required to have a lot of political clout. But if you wish to keep it a simple affair with just a few people and no crazy drama, then you can easily do it with the permission of the local authorities.
A simple approach will also save you a lot of money that otherwise is just wasted.
